Ebony Jadeite Beauty is led by
Karen Vanderburg Johnson,
a highly accomplished professional in the beauty and fashion industry with
decades of experience.
Karen’s career began in New York City, where she trained in elite salon environments and quickly advanced through dedication to her craft. Early in her journey, she worked with high-profile clientele including Diana Ross, Rolanda Watts, Rita Pointer, and Melba Moore, refining her expertise in
advanced hairstyling and
hair enhancement techniques.
She trained under renowned industry professionals, including master stylist Clem Lueyatt, widely known as “The Master Weaver,” and further developed her skills alongside respected beauty experts throughout her career .
Karen’s work has extended into the fashion world, where she has served as a lead hairstylist on major stages such as New York Fashion Week, Bronner Bros, and other high-profile runway and editorial platforms. Her styling has been featured in publications including Huffington Post, Hype Hair, and Heart & Soul Magazine . Karen has not only established herself in the fashion industry, she owns and operates a nyc salon for over 2 decades.
Karen is a New York State Licensed Cosmetology Educator and currently serves as the School Director of Westchester Barber and Beauty Academy, where she plays a key role in developing and mentoring future professionals in the beauty industry. She also holds the distinguished position of New York Cosmetology State Board Examiner, further solidifying her authority and leadership within the field.
She is also co-founder of The HairMadness Foundation, an organization dedicated to restoring confidence by providing wigs and hair services to individuals experiencing hair loss due to
medical conditions and life transitions .
